Job Description

Our client is currently looking for a quality engineer to join their growing manufacturing company in Saffron Walden. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of ISO 9001, have excellent problem-solving skills and be adapt at managing their own workload. Knowledge and implementation of quality concepts and tools and the ability to engage and communicate successfully throughout the company. Ideally the right candidate will have experience in internal auditing and be able to handle any customer claims.

You will have at least 2 years' experience within Quality Engineering preferably from a aerospace or military background.

Improve Product Quality and reduce visual inspection levels through process improvement. Assistance in creation of control plans. Produce and/or review FAI's in accordance with AS9102. Assist in maintaining document control. Assist in external audits (2nd & 3rd party). Hosting source inspections when required & conducting product release. Any other duties deemed appropriate by the management.

Main responsibilities:

• Managing Customer claims system and engaging directly with customers
• Lead the root cause and corrective action investigations
• Provide guidance and leadership in product quality issues found during manufacturing process
• Creation and updating of the documentation supporting the production operations (work instructions, guides)
• Conduct internal audits to ISO9001 and ISO14001 requirements

Candidate requirements

• Good understanding of ISO9001
• Experience in internal auditing to ISO9001 and 14001
• Experience within the quality role in a manufacturing environment
• Good problem-solving skills and knowledge of root cause analysis techniques
• Experience with 8D reports and customer claims
• Strong communication skills
• Good Microsoft office skills
• Ability to read technical drawings

Advantageous knowledge/experience

• Experience in mechanical inspection using a CMM
• Lean principles experience
• Aerospace / Military Industry experience
• Experience within a plating workshop
• Experience with FMEAs
