We at Team CV Ltd are currently recruiting for a Quality Control Laboratory Assistant for our client based in the SE10 Area
Working Hours are as follows:
Start time 10am-6pm (Monday – Friday) for the Quality Control Laboratory Assistant.
Paying £11- £11.50 per hour depending on experience (Working a 40-hour week, anything over 40 hours will be paid time and a half)
Your day-to-day tasks of a Quality Control Laboratory Assistant:
Collection of samples using approved methods from bulk deliveries through to final packaged product, adhering to the sample plan.
Test samples including CIP chemicals and analyse results following approved methods taking all necessary steps to ensure precision and repeatability.
Complete necessary testing and paperwork for packaging start up in a timely manner to help team keep to schedule.
Validation of operator QC testing in production areas.
Complete CCP testing and records for site and escalate any issues to senior team
Ensure micro equipment is cleaned and autoclaved, managed supply of agar plates and prepare agar plates to ensure stock is sufficient for analysis.
End of Shelf life testing completed and recorded to schedule
Test microbiology samples, read plates and report results, adhering to sample plan.
Daily calibration, validation and basic maintenance of laboratory instruments.
Organising, preparing for and running tastings. Recording results of sensory evaluation.
Complete investigations to support Quality Manager to identify the root cause of Quality Issues on site.
Report results to relevant stakeholders, out of specification results, micro results.
Be part of the continues improvement process regarding Quality Management on site.
Complete Quality audits and manage the close out of actions raised.
Skills and knowledge of a Quality Control Laboratory Assistant
You will need:
Accurately enter results into LIMS taking care to safeguard product traceability.
Produce results in a timely manner to help production departments keep to schedule.
Communicate product status clearly and effectively to relevant areas.
Promote team effectiveness
Work with colleagues to actively seek opportunities to improve business performance
Share knowledge, insight, expertise or resources to support the wider Clients requirements
Uphold the gold standard of behaviour for the Product Safety and Quality at all times.
Monitor the lab consumables stock and ensure that replacements are ordered in plenty of time to avoid delays in analysis.
Tailor approach and communicate effectively to various audiences
Use direct, logical persuasion in discussion or presentation
Sound out key decision makers and potential sponsors prior to meetings
Make fluent presentations with the audience in mind
Be confident to challenge where behaviours or processes are not being adhered to.
Uphold housekeeping and hygiene standards in laboratories and taste room.
Take responsibility for the safety of the Laboratory Team
Ensure we work to the company standards and policies but above all maintain the safety of our team at the Brewery
Be accountable – Never walk past a hazard without acting
Keep Laboratory a clean, tidy and safe environment for all people working in the area.

Required Experience, Training and Qualifications for the successful Quality Control Laboratory Assistant
* BSc or equivalent in a related Science discipline
* At least one year of experience in an analytical laboratory, preferably in the food industry
* Basic knowledge of HACCP requirements
* Strong IT skills including competent use of MS Office and a laboratory information management system (LIMS).
This role will be expected to operate with initiative, limited supervision, and balance different priorities. The successful candidate will make decisions about product hold/release status and will therefore need to gain the trust and confidence of the Senior Team.
