Pertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client in central Edinburgh to recruit for Purchasing Assistants on a temporary basis for around 12 months. The roles are full time and the rate of pay is £10.36 per hour.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Liaise with user departments regarding their purchasing requirements and carry these out as directed in line with Purchasing procedures
  • Receive and check goods against Purchase Orders and identify the internal destination
  • Maintain the order progression system that ensures all deliveries are on time
  • Maintain product catalogues and department library ensuring that the information is the most current available
  • Ensure that all departmental documents are filed correctly and that all files are maintained
  • Arrange off-site storage as requested by user departments and delivery and uplift of storage boxes
  • Respond to and deal with user department enquiries and investigate complaints, providing a suitable solution for the user
  • Reconcile invoice irregularities and match in FAMS
  • Create purchase records in Oracle Cloud via authorised invoices
  • Arrange staff travel and accommodation
  • Undertake special projects as directed by the Purchasing Officer or Financial Controller
  • Other delegated duties as required in order to meet the departmental remit and in line with the policies and procedures

Competencies and Experience Required
The following competencies are essential to performing the job successfully:-
  • Experience of working in a finance environment and using finance systems
  • PC literate with sound knowledge of MS Office Software including Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience of dealing directly with internal and external customers over the telephone and face to face. Experience within a customer orientated environment
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to work alone with minimum supervision
  • Good at planning and prioritising workload and meeting deadlines
  • Methodical and accurate working approach
  • Commitment and enthusiasm with the ability to quickly learn new working practices

Desirable Criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a purchasing role, knowledge of purchasing procedures and systems
  • Experience of the Oracle financial system
