The Public Affairs Manager role is based within the Babcock Corporate Affairs team.
Corporate Affairs is a Group function based at Babcock's London Head Office with responsibility for Government Relations, Communications, Strategy, ESG and International. Led by the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, the team works closely with the Group Executive Committee to make Babcock a strong, safe and unified global business, that delivers year on year sustainable growth and better outcomes for our customers, communities and culture.
The difference our new Public Affairs Manager will make:
As a Public Affairs Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Supporting the Head of UK Government Relations in the planning, coordination and delivery of Babcock's UK public affairs strategy and outputs, taking personal ownership of particular stakeholder groups, projects and on-going tasks / responsibilities.
Day to day, you'll be developing, refining and managing the company's relations and activities, with agreed parts of the UK government and UK Parliament, relevant industry associations, and broader, political opinion-forming stakeholders. You'll also, be assisting as need be in facilitating ad hoc relationships with - and monitoring of - the Scottish and Welsh Government and Parliaments, the LGA and the Northern Ireland Executive/Assembly.

Good working knowledge of the current political scene, UK government and Parliamentary processes, party political structures and key political contacts.
Experience of working in Parliament (prefreable), Think tank or Government Department.
Understanding of the sensitivities of PLCs when approaching decision-makers.
Experience of planning and delivering successful public affairs campaigns.
Ideally, experience of working direct with government and/or other regulatory bodies.
