About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and motivate multi-disciplinary project teams, responsible for the management of a range of projects ranging from £250,000 in value through to £1 million.

You will be responsible for developing customer solutions as well as ensuring that project deliverables are achieved in a timely manner and within cost. You will be managing a portfolio of projects through the entire project lifecycle from outline conception through design, construction and handover.

As Project Manager you will be the main point of contact for external customers, project team members, and internal stakeholders.

This role is based at Clearwater Court in Reading however regular travel around the Thames Water area (Thames Valley and London) will be required.

This role will be responsible for leading a range of project teams and accountable for the following:
  • You will be the main point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders on your assigned projects.
  • Delivery of project outcomes, taking into account Health and Safety, programme, quality, cost, as well as industry relevant governance.
  • Project forecasting, ensuring the works carried out remain within budget.
  • Progress reporting against, time, cost and quality.
  • Identifying and briefing appropriately profiled projects to meet business requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in activities within the immediate team and wider team.
  • Drive constantly improving health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Initiate and develop communication and strong working relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • -Apply commercial acumen in managing contractors and suppliers to deliver best value solutions to agreed projects. 
What skills are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced leader with extensive project management experience, ideally within the water or utilities industry. You will be comfortable adapting your communication style to field staff as well as more corporate senior stakeholders, and you will display demonstrable experience of this.

This is a challenging and exciting role and we are looking for a strong project manager with a track record for project delivery, being responsible for governance compliance as well as engaging with the teams to drive the projects forwards.

The ability to gain credibility quickly is essential and if you are a chartered engineer or possess a Project Management qualification, this would be hugely advantageous. You will have broad knowledge and experience in making complex investment decisions and be fully competent at using appropriate company IT systems and office software.

Previous experience of managing delivery partners and supply chain across a large geographical region is also beneficial and you must be able to present on deliverables and progress to senior stakeholders in an articulate manner.

Whilst this is a client-side Project Management role, the team delivers work for external customers, playing a role within the Developer Services Team, interfacing with a broad range of customers from Developers to Transport Undertakers. You will lead technical, delivery and customer focused teams, ensuring efficient and safe delivery across a high-profile area of the business.
