Role Summary

Job Title: Project Finance Lead
Career Level/Global Grade: 11
Geographic Responsibility: UK

Role Purpose:
• As the key Financial Lead for the Vivace delivery team, this role delivers key finance and accounting outputs to the business without supervision. You will be expected to train, guide and support others as well as developing your own accounting knowledge and experience
• You will be required to provide first class financial data which is timely, accurate and relevant, whilst complying with standard processes, procedures and QinetiQ finance policies


Key Accountabilities:
1. Defining annual operating budget and tracking business performance (outturn) against the budget.
2. Timely and accurate output of cost reconciliation and preparation of invoices to Customers to in turn drive efficient cash collection
3. Monthly reconciliation of QinetiQ costs as per the internal finance systems (SAP) against monthly invoices raised in order to support revenue recognition assumptions
4. Work alongside Project Accounting Lead and Deputy Financial Controller as main audit point of contact for the business area to support both internal and external reporting requirements
5. Resolves queries and emerging issues using judgement based on analysis of information and utilising experience and knowledge of finance and accounting activities
6. Supporting and delivers reliable reporting requirements for the business, which usually fall under tight deadlines
7. Attend regular Project review meetings, liaising with Business Finance, Project and IDT Manager
8. Drives the effectiveness of financial reports and proactively seeks areas for continuous improvement, implementing improvements as well as supporting others with these activities


Specific Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
1. Providing appropriate evidence/audit trail to support any financial entries (accruals, prepayments etc)
2. Top level understanding of the P&L and Balance Sheet
3. Lead in internal forecasting and budgeting rounds ensuring robust information issued for an accurate submission
4. Independent finance review of bids before release to ensure cost recovery is achieved
5. Other ad hoc reporting, including participating in regular reviews with key stakeholders, Business and Finance Leads and Management Information Services

Experience & Qualifications:
• Part Qualified Accountant or experienced in the finance field – must be financially astute
• Proven experience in challenging results and providing accurate and relevant feedback
• Strong commercial awareness and be confident with using finance systems for reporting purposes
• Project accounting experience would be beneficial
• Proven experience of being able to prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines, working alongside other members of the team in an efficient and structured way
• Desirable experience working in a start-up culture and HMG
