The roleThe Project Controls Assistant role is an excellent opportunity for a proactive candidate looking to develop their capability in a wide range of Project Controls disciplines.We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with experience working in a project environment who are interested in developing themselves within the Project Controls function, aiming to eventually become a discipline specialist or a Project Controls Manager. This is a development role; as such candidates are expected to demonstrate experience in some but not all responsibilities and accountabilities listed below, with an expectation they will be keen and able to develop in the remainder.
This role will be based within the Submarine Support Engineering business area, working for the Programme Management Office responsible for delivering a collection of small projects which span all elements of the project lifecycle, totalling more than £200m.
Day to day you'll- Be partnered with a group of engineering delivery teams,
supporting project managers within these teams to generate a breadth of artefacts across all project controls disciplines, including Estimating, Planning & Scheduling, Budgeting & Cost Control, Risk, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies and Opportunities Management (RAIDO) and Change Management.
- Your work will span all elements of the project lifecycle, covering the production of project controls outputs throughout Bid, Delivery and Closure stages.
Essential experience of the Project Controls Assistant,- 1-2+ years of experience working in a Project environment.
- Familiarity with principles of Project Management and Project Controls.
- Exposure/ experience with some Project Controls outputs such as Schedules, Cost Forecasts, Finance/ Cost Control Systems, Risk Registers, and monthly reporting.
This role offers hybrid working arrangments: 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home
Desirable Qualifications for the Project Controls Assistant role- APM Project Management Fundamentals (PFQ)
- APM Project Planning & Controls - Foundation
- Earned Value Management Certification - Foundation
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
