The Engineering Apprenticeships are based at Rosyth.

At the heart of our Marine sector is our 320 acre Rosyth facility, which is home to one of the largest waterside manufacturing and repair facilities in the UK. The facilities have been an iconic presence on the River Forth for more than 100 years and carry a name synonymous with engineering excellence. Our world-class assets and infrastructure support a diverse range of naval and commercial marine programmes as well as advanced manufacturing.

At Rosyth, you can expect to work on the build, maintenance and refit of UK Royal Navy and international naval vessels, including the Type 31 Frigate Programme and UK Submarine Dismantling Programme.

Our wider engineering and marine services business encompasses the through-life support of complex assets, marine engineering and platform design, advanced manufacturing and the international application of intellectual property via our Gas Handling business, LGE.

Procurement & Supply Chain Apprenticeship:

Working through a 2-year, fully accredited Modern Apprenticeship programme, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills, and knowledge in Procurement & Supply Chain. The apprenticeship is a work-based qualification, attendance at college will only be required to complete the technical certificate of the apprenticeship.

To support the Procurement team assisting in the day-to-day business by carrying out a variety of tasks associated with material and services/subcontract procurement and upkeep and integrity of the business ERP System (IFS).

Opportunity to develop your skills, specialise in one of a number of Procurement based functions which will include

  • Awareness of all Procurement practice & procedures
  • Processing Blanket Order items to Purchase Order
  • Assisting with management and administration of the Contracts
  • Engagement with suppliers as required
  • Expedite material in line with Project and Customer required by dates.
  • Maintain and support the internal ERP System
  • Develop knowledge compliance with Babcock Procurement processes and procedures
  • Development and gain knowledge of Governance and Compliance, Management Information, Metrics and Reporting
  • Support requisition to pay activities - processing Purchase Orders, invoice queries
  • Working closely with the QA Department
  • Actioning close out of Receipt Queries at Goods In
  • Gaining Contract Management awareness and liaising with Commercial team
  • Establish relationships with QA, Commercial, Engineering and Production Departments

Possible placements:

You will undertake placements on site with our procurement & supply chain team to broaden your knowledge and experience and work towards your qualification.

Qualifications you'll get:

You will gain the following qualifications in your respective apprenticeship discipline. These components make up your Modern Apprenticeship.

  • Vocational Qualification in Supply Chain Management at SCQF 7
  • 5 Core Skills at SCQF 5
  • 1 Technical Certificate

What you'll need:

  • Five SQA National Qualifications needed:
  • Maths at National Level 5
  • English at National Level 5
  • ICT at National Level 5
  • Two others at National Level 4 or 5

The ability to gain SC clearance

The apprentice must demonstrate the core requirements below and also demonstrate the specialist requirements in their chosen role.
