Experience working in an outside and manual role.
Enthusiastic and practical person with a 'can do' and 'hands on' attitude.
Self-motivated and be able to work well alone or as part of a team.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
Computer literacy skills are desirable as is a basic knowledge of waste treatment processes.
Experienced in diagnosing basic mechanical and instrumentational issues is also desirable.
Due to the nature of the role a full, valid UK driving licence is required, and an HGV licence is advantageous.
£12 per hour, 38 hours a week (7.30am - 3.36pm, Monday to Friday).
Perform a range of activities to ensure that all equipment associated with our client's sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently.
Assist technicians with their technical duties and provide support for confined space entries.
Carry out statutory site checks, routine checks, maintenance and problem solving.
Monitoring and inspecting equipment, following a checklist to carry out planned preventative maintenance.
Carry out functional tests to ensure equipment, generators, and telemetry are working.
Reporting any defective equipment, to ensure a swift resolution following any breakdowns.
Taking ownership of your own, and colleagues, health and safety through escalating any concerns to your manager and resolving them yourself where possible. Part of the role will be performing routine mandatory checks/tests.
Making sure work area is safe before commencing any work by undertaking a point of work risk assessment.
Having an awareness of budget position and how unplanned events can impact on the budget (e.g. tanker/plant/pump hire, etc.)
Liaising with the planning and scheduling team to ensure your work load is managed correctly. Using a PDA device to record work orders being completed.
Attending all team meetings, engaging with safety briefings and company communications, identifying issues and raising constructive feedback with the management team, with suggestions for improvements.
