About the role:
Have you ever wondered what it takes to support our nuclear deterrent? Dreadnought is the largest programme in UK Defence. Babcock are charged with delivery of Design, Integrated Logistic Support and Programme Support to the MoD UK `new build' and `in-service' submarine fleet across all classes of vessels.
From system feasibility analyses of engineering problems and solutions, to fully incorporated design changes Babcock support the entire design lifecycle. They are the key component ensuring that the nation's nuclear submarines are available and ensure the nuclear deterrent is always maintained.
Reporting to the Project Controls and Planning Manager the Lead Planner will manage and direct a team of Project Controller Planners to ensure the quality and accuracy of all project schedules, requirements and deliverables are met. Provide guidance on CAM schedule development and maintenance, whilst ensuring data availability, integrity and quality are maintained. Support CAMs to create and maintain CPR data for performance and variance reporting to demonstrate CAMs accountability for delivery of Project and Business commitments. Develop and maintain the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) ensuring the correct level of content and logic is incorporated to support project requirements, whilst liaising with the Project Controller Planners for IMS inputs and updates. Analysis of performance and applying Earned Value Management (EVM) methodology, where applicable, for developing CPRs and identifying deviations from baseline Project Control positions for recommend corrective actions where necessary.
In conjunction with the wider PMO, prepare, maintain, analyse and provide Project Management Information to enable the monitoring and control of the project i.e. Key Performance Indicators, Milestones, Deliverables and Dependencies.
What do I need to do the role:
Experience of managing and supporting small teams of Project Controller Planners.
Significant knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Project and Word) and Primavera P6.
Significant experience with EVM systems, performance metrics, analysis and reporting.
Good understanding of risk management and schedule & cost risk analysis.
A working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning and Business Information Management System(s) would be an advantage.Qualifications
Degree qualified in a relevant discipline with relevant experience or HNC/HND qualified with significant relevant experience.
Hold a Project Management Qualification such as Association for Project Management Project Management Qualification or PRINCE2.
What else do I need to know?
The post will be based in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involves working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. You must be a sole UK national and hold current, active 'Security Check' (SC) or 'Developed Vetting' (DV) security clearance or be willing to undergo the necessary process to obtain security clearance.
Candidates who do not meet the above criteria will not be considered for this post.
This position is based in Keynsham, which is situated between Bristol (5 miles) and Bath (7 miles).
