Job Description

Working for a West Midlands local authority supporting the day to day management of a large payroll team. Payrolling over 34,000 people per month and also providing a payroll service to a large number of traded customers such as schools, district and borough councils. Payroll deadlines occur throughout the month so the Team Leader needs to be used to working at pace and in a busy environment. The team work closely together, have a great team ethos and are part of the HR Shared Service function of around 50 staff who manage the end to end employee life cycle from recruitment through to payroll.

Due to the restructure of the HR service the role is temporary until the structure is finalised.

Essential requirements
  • 3/4 years payroll experience
  • experience of leading/supervising day to day running of a team
  • experience in reconciliation and third party payment
  • deadline driven
  • solution focused
  • hands on when needed
  • Excellent customer service - written, verbal and face to face
