Our client is a leading service provider within its field. Due to their continued success they are looking for an Experienced Operations Manager to join the business.
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000
Location: West Wales, travel between sites required

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the delivery of exceptional operational performance within the business, leading all operational teams. Accountable for all operational sites, together with the transport and commercial departments, you will make a significant strategic contribution, delivering business objectives and operational strategy which expands and exceeds the Company expectation. You will contribute fresh and creative ways of optimising efficiencies and improving profitability.
This role will champion managers and staff to engage and work together in achieving a common goal, promoting a culture that encourages top performance and high morale. You will be an advocate of continuous improvement and take ownership for driving such culture through the business.
Working closely with all Stakeholders, clients and Managers to develop positive relationships whilst ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations.
Full responsibility for the financial performance for all operational areas.
Strategic input into the direction of the business, contributing to the overall business strategy.
Execute the business strategy through your teams.
Identifying new business opportunities, with contribution to the Company Business Plan.
To challenge management practises and behaviours.
To ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to within all operational functions at each site.
Produce monthly reports, highlighting challenging areas along with solutions.
Engagement of Managers and staff to create a culture of continuous improvement, safety and respect of all personnel.
Overall Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) responsibility for all operational functions.
Implement and monitor agreed business plan targets.
Responsible for commercial growth and tender submissions.
Successfully implementing all Company policies to agreed standards.
Ensuring all team members are executing their duties as required.
Engagement of Operational Managers to create a culture of continuous improvement,
Ensure that administrative systems effective and encourage a culture of staff feedback to promote continuous improvement.
Ensuring all managers understand the company vision.
Supporting and leading the overall strategic direction of the company alongside the Directors.
Contributing to the 5-year business strategy to achieve the company's objectives.
Meeting with the finance director on a regular basis to review the company's financial performance.
Interviewing for senior positions within the organisation and signing off offers of employment.
Managing the direction of the company and guiding senior members of the company.
Working closely with the Managing Director on sales strategy and approach to winning new business and analysing opportunities for growth in market segments to drive profitability.
Carrying out regular analysis to identify any potential risks through industry and market changes.
Looking for opportunities to increase efficiencies and speed up processes across the business.
Implementing new processes and procedures across the business.
Setting department KPI's to gauge company performance in all areas.
Promoting the company health and safety culture at all times by understanding the company health and safety policy and ensuring that the arrangements detailed in it are implemented and maintained within their areas of responsibility.
Ensure the compliance to all company health and safety procedures.
Enforce and maintain the company HSE Policy and procedures, ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all employees, contractors and visitors.
Ensure the compliance to all company HSE procedures.
Challenge the performance of the business with Operational Managers (financial performance, operational performance, health and safety, operational and business projections and other special projects as required)
To challenge management practises and behaviours to ensure continual professional improvement safety and respect of all personnel.
Identify opportunities to improve the performance of the operations through the application of continuous improvement techniques, including clear visual management.
Organising and motivating competent teams and individuals, whilst developing their capabilities.
Responsible for activities at all internal operational sites and external commercial operations, ensuring consistency across the business. Sites include:2 x Materials Recycling Facilities, In-Vessel Composting Facility, 4 x HWRC's, Transport fleet, landfill site and all future operational developments.
Waste industry experience (minimum 10 years)
Senior operations management experience
Sound understanding of waste treatment processes and operations
In depth knowledge and understanding of recycling operations
Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the company
Familiarity with corporate law and management best practices
Excellent organisational and leadership skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
Effective leadership and people management skills
Highly motivated with the ability to motivate others
Solid understanding of financial management

Degree (or equivalent advantageous)
