As a Non-Destructive Testing Technician B8T, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Ensuring that, with the equipment available, the tasking of NDT maintenance activities is completed in a timely and effective manner.

Day to day, you'll be Carrying out NDT techniques on aircraft and aircraft components as tasked by Part M and Hangar Management. - primary task, you'll be maintaining SQEP in the desired NDT techniques via annual and 5 yearly reviews, holding a relevant certificate of competence from the BAES NDT RL3 and maintaining your EN4179 L3 for each of the desired NDT techniques, manage workload, interfacing with the customer professionally and utilising diplomacy to de-conflict incompatible priorities across the organisation.

You'll also ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with TAA published approved data and Part145 regulatory approvals, check that all equipment required for tasking is available and reporting all deficiencies, completing approved preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure maximum capability is maintained. Maintain radiation safety records to demonstrate minimal radiation exposure, monitor the handling, distribution, and satisfaction of engineering instructions (MODs, RTI's, UTI's STIs, SIs etc.) and their associated reporting procedures, carry out additional duties as required by the Support Bays Manager. Maintain an effective changeover by debriefs or written log to provide a smooth transition and continuation of trade tasks between each shift (Where/when applicable)

Champion a culture of Near Miss and Error Reporting and take the lead for subsequent investigations, assist with the management of Staff Performance & Development, maintain Environmental, Quality, Security and Health & Safety standards as defined by Babcock Policy and conduct self in line with the Being Babcock set of principles.

Essential experience
Significant practical NDT experience
Significant engineering work experience within a Part 145 environment.
Current Training Certificate to EN4179 L2 standard in a minimum of three of the five common methods (Dye penetrant, Magnetic Particle Detection, Eddy current, Ultrasonic and Radiography testing)
Full Driving License
CP2 test
Security clearance to BPSS/CTC level
Knowledge of applicable legislation and Standards
Knowledge of auditing techniques: planning, conducting, and reporting
Knowledge of human factors, human performance, and limitations
Knowledge of occurrence reporting system and understanding of the importance of reporting occurrences, incorrect maintenance data and existing or potential defects
Knowledge of safety risks linked to the working environment
Understanding of professional integrity, behaviour, and attitude towards safety
Understanding of his/her own human performance and limitations
understand personnel authorisations and limitations and understanding critical task.
Obtain or have the ability to obtain SC Clearance
