Between £23k and £25K
Based at the Equipment Department, Pallion, Sunderland, but may be called on to travel to any site, using service transport.
To assist in the management, maintenance and repair of a wide range of electronic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic medical and patient care equipment.
Provision of a scheduled maintenance service plan for all patient care equipment.
Provision of a repair service for all unscheduled maintenance.
Provision of a commissioning service for all new equipment.
Provision of a quarantine service for all equipment as it reaches its "end of life".
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
BTEC/ONC in an appropriate subject or equivalent experience is the minimum qualification.
A minimum of two years experience working in a related environment.
Must be able to diagnose and evaluate faults in equipment comprising of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical or combination systems.
Must have good inter-personal skills and be able to communicate effectively with people for all disciplines using a variety of media.
Must have an understanding of ambulance-aid principles and the way in which medical equipment is deployed relative to the care and treatment of patients in the operational environment.
Must be able to work independently using their own initiative and to prioritise work to achieve departmental objectives. Must also be able to work closely within the team, as necessary.
Must have a good understanding of the safety issues relating to the equipment including Health and Safety legislation, Handling and Moving regulations, COSSH regulations, MHRA recommendations and the MHRA Adverse Incident reporting procedures.
Must have good analytical skills to enable the post holder to work through problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
Must be able to interpret and implement departmental test procedures and, where appropriate, devise safe and effective test tasks.
