Job Description

About the role:

The successful candidate will be working in a small, multi-discipline team and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance work on mechanical equipment such as pumps, mixers and gearboxes.

This will be done in compliance with company procedures, current standards and regulations, and also in line with manufacturer’s guidelines, in order to minimise plant breakdowns.

There will also be responsibility to investigate and diagnose complex faults from plant failures and subsequently carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to the process.

This role will also involve the carrying-out the installation, refurbishment and commissioning of mechanical process plant to specification and in a timely manner.

As part of the site team they would be responsible for providing technical advice where appropriate, making reference to up to date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees.

You will also be responsible for maintaining a stock of spares and materials required to complete work effectively, where necessary ensuring additional items are ordered.

Ensure the health and safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors and members of the public is excellent at all times.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
  • We are seeking a qualified mechanical technician with experience working on industrial plant equipment.
  • We are looking for an apprenticeship-served technician with similar experience. Due to the nature of this role domestic experience is not suitable.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the water industry would be beneficial for this role, although not essential.
  • The work will require physical fitness and you will need the ability to work in confined spaces following successful completion of the appropriate training.
  • Due to the nature of the role a valid driving licence is essential.
