The role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. It sits within our Mission Systems business unit. We enable our customers to deliver their mission, through our products and solutions, using intelligence and analysis and delivering critical communication services.
Our aim is to be at the centre of our customers' modern digital backbone by connecting and delivering sensors, decision support, and air effectors across military and business domains
Day to day, you'll identify design requirements and acceptance and conduct design assurance activities to minimise technical risks, including scoping stress analysis, tolerance stack ups and interface management. You'll also capture design intent in "design set out" drawings and supporting documentation and prepare information for, and presenting at, design reviews with specialist functions (such as manufacturing, safety) and chief engineers.

Key duties
Ensure procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
Provide a technical interface with internal and external stakeholders at a detailed level
Carry out technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment/resolution and for design of improvements
Produce, review, verify outputs including: calculations, analyses, technical reports, technical specifications and method statements
Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
Essential experience of the Mechanical Design Engineer
Experienced in Computer Aided Design
A good communicator who enjoys collaboration with others,
Experience in working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams to deliver activities on a range of project types
Qualifications for the role
Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
