*To support, co-ordinate and execute Transmission System Design & Development activities.
*A role that will support the complete life cycle of a Transmission unit, from conceptual scheming, to detail definition/analysis through manufacture, development and qualification/certification. Then post entry into service, supporting activities on improvements, modifications, requirement changes, obsolesces, cost reduction, re-qualification/re-certification, in-service/customer support and repair/overhaul within the Transmission Engineering Group.
*Responsible for assisting delivery of a cost effective design/analysis and continued airworthiness of transmission system components. Accountable directly to the Head of Products/Chief Project of Transmission Engineering UK (Dynamic Systems Group).
*Generation of conceptual transmission system layouts.
*Preparation of 3D model of transmission components, sub-assemblies and assemblies by using CATIA V5 CAD.
*Preparation of 2D drawings of transmission components, sub-assemblies and assemblies by using CATIA V5 CAD.
*Preparation of detail definition for gears, bearings, casings, couplings and shafts.
*Preparation of the Bill Of Materials (BOM) using the platform ENOVIA or MyDbx (depending on the aircraft platform).
*Support, preparation, introduction and embodiment of Product Improvements, Cost Reduction initiatives and Modifications.
*Preparation of reports relevant to the assigned activities.
*Support the preparation of the presentation relevant to the assigned tasks.
*Preparation of specifications for vendor supplied components or assemblies.
*Support to Repair and Overhaul organisation.
*Support the Sustain Engineering function with in-service and production issues providing the needed drawings/sketches or repair schemes.
*Support to Production Manufacturing, active cooperation with the manufacturing engineering group during the design and production phase in order to ensure that manufacturing related aspects have been taken into account.
*Active cooperation with other functions within the organisation to support any relevant issue (interfaces with other elements of the aircraft, production issues, etc.)
*Preparation and producing Initial stress analysis.
Skills, Qualifications and Knowledge required;
*Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. mechanical engineering, other engineering, science or mathematics) or Educated to National Certificate (Diploma) level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or approved equivalent.
*Good knowledge of basics rules of mechanical design (dimensioning, tolerances, fittings).
*Good Communication Skills and Organized mind-set.
*Knowledge of CAD 2D drafting and 3D modelling with gained experience with any CAD software.
*Knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook).
*Knowledge of CATIA V5 and FT&A package.
*Previous experience gained in a Mechanical Design Engineering environment.
*Knowledge of Helicopter Mechanical/Transmission systems.
*Basic knowledge and/or relevant experience in Stress and Fatigue analysis.
*Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis software packages (Abacus or similar).
