Defence Equipment

The Material Accountant role is based within our Defence Equipment business area.

Defence equipment stores, maintains, repairs and overhauls military vehicles and equipment so the UK army is able to train and deploy in a moment. As well as supporting vehicles that are already in service, the team carries out vehicle assembly integration and tests new vehicles.

The difference our new Material Accountant will make

As a Material Accountant you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be providing administrative support to Supply Chain and help manage the materiel and the associated accounting requirements.

Day to day, you'll ensure all operations are conducted safety and any Health and Safety concerns or suggested improvements are highlighted, comply with Risk Assessments and Process Guides and ensure that the warehouse is maintained to a high standard.

You'll also action the receipt of consignments within the Goods Inward Department ensuring all consignments are checked and any discrepancies with quantity or quality are highlighted.

Once formally trained, you'll carry out appropriate accounting requirements using the appropriate IT systems.

Essential experience

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft packages
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Efficiently work towards deadlines and multitask
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain and/or Inventory Management is advantageous
  • You must hold or have the ability to hold full Security Clearance
