The role

As a Marine Systems Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be providing front line reactive engineering support directly to ships.

Day to day, you'll be:
Providing marine system technical assistance in support of reactive engineering demands, unintentional deviations from design intent, maintenance concessions and technical queries.
Evaluating reactive engineering technical issues and, through the application of systems engineering principles, make technical recommendations.
Providing technical advice including developed action plans aligned to engineering governance and delegations.
Carrying out technical investigations and analyses, including evaluation and selection of technical options, preparing reports with recommended courses of action.
Operating a call centre style Helpdesk service, as required on a rotational roster. Contributing to an out of hour's service, to include Bank Holidays and Christmas Shutdown Period, capable of escalating a technical query or issue as required.

Essential experience of the Marine Systems Engineer,
An understanding of design intent and engineering governance
A systems approach to problem solving
An understanding of failure modes, and ability to determine 'cause' amongst effect.

This role provides hybrid working with an average of one day per week onsite however, you must be able and willing to attend the site as and when the project demands.

Qualifications for the Marine Systems Engineer,
HNC level desirable though not essential, and ideally will be a member of a professional institution operating at, or working towards, incorporated level.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
