Job Description

Title: Full-Time Support Worker / PA
Location: Harrow, HA1
Nearest Tube/Station: Harrow on the Hill, West Harrow, Northwich Park
Wage: £32,000.00 - £37,000.00 Gross per Annum, depending on experience
Driver required? Essential, automatic, adapted vehicle
Use of a car? On Duty
Essential: Experience supporting a client with a physical disability such as cerebral palsy
Start Date: Mid July/Start of August
Days & Hours: 40 Hours per week. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 9.00am – 6.00pm. Tuesday: 8.00am – 5.00pm
Family/Client Pets: Yes, 2 friendly dogs which Josh regularly takes out for a walk

About this client:
Josh 26 is a bright, engaging, and charismatic young man seeking a full-time Male* Support Worker / PA. Josh has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user (manual), he communicates extremely well through speech and uses Eye Gaze technology to operate his computer etc. He experiences athetoid movements and receives therapy input twice a week and attends hydrotherapy weekly.

Overview of role:
A dynamic position to enable Josh to lead a full and independent life and participate in all his hobbies, interests, and voluntary roles; of which there are many! Josh is always out and about sailing, skiing, visiting family, eating out, attending West End shows and attending College where he is completing a music course – a true passion of his. You’ll assist Josh in planning his day to day activities and life admin duties and liaise with medical professional, equipment suppliers, arrange appointments etc. Josh’s personal care needs are met by the team of carer’s in his independent living setting, therefore, it’s unlikely you will need to assist Josh in this respect however it’s your role to ensure all his needs are being met to a high standard and each aspects are his care plan are being followed. A true advocacy role where Josh is listened to, heard and put at the centre of everything. (Some activities may be curtailed depending on the COVID-19 situation at the starting date).
