Job Description

Lead Electrical Design Engineer required for Bristol based company, who design, manufacture, install and maintain a range of physical blocking systems that protect critical infrastructure and public places from vehicle borne threats.  Their portfolio includes (but is not limited to) road blockers, rising bollards, rising arm barriers and various gate types.
  • Bristol – BS3
  • £40,000 - £42,000 per annum, dependent on experience 
  • 40 hour working week, flexible to meet the demands of the role
  • 25 days holiday pro rata + statutory public holidays
  • Must be prepared to travel when required (national and international)
About the job
  • Managing the electrical design and development processes
  • Use of Design FMEA to manage and minimise product risk through design.
  • Assist in the development and costings (forecasting) of electrical control panel costs
  • Coaching and development of Junior Electrical Engineers
  • Provide technical support to both internal and external customers
  • Develop and interpret functional design specifications from end user operational requirements
  • Design of control panels and PLC software to satisfy the needs of the above
  • Carry out Factory Acceptance testing, Site Acceptance Testing and on-site com
  • Contribute and be involved in the design and development of new control systems and implementation of new technologies 
  • Design and development of new products as well as continual improvements and upgrades to the existing product range
The right candidate
  • Degree qualified in electrical engineering or other relevant field
  • Ability of communicate clearly to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Capable of planning own and others’ activities
  • Customer focused, always working to ensure the best possible outcome for the client
  • Excellent computer skills, being proficient in Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • The ability to simultaneously organize and successfully execute multiple project responsibilities
  • A flexible approach to working hours will be required during busy periods to meet commitments
