Job Description

Role Purpose Operating across the business areas the job holder will provide the business with preparation of and support to all import and export matters in line with applicable national and international regulations in a compliant, effective and efficient manner. Key Accountabilities 1. Support and process import and export related tasks with a solid knowledge of German and EU export regulation, ITAR and EAR. 2. Liaise with external customs control officers and government departments, and nominated freight forwarder to ensure all movements required by the businesses. 3. Organise and maintain records of all domestic movements for the business whilst ensuring compliance with international export controls (re-transfers). 4. Prepare accurate and compliant import/export paperwork, customs documents and maintain complete records for audit. 5. Prepare import/export licence applications; 6. Prepare re-transfer or re-export authorisations to US Government. 7. Support US customers and suppliers in the scoping of accurate US authorisation applications to support programmes/business development. 8. Determine the classification of goods, software and technology to be exported. 9. Support the initiating, implementing and managing of Trade Control projects 10. Support management with export authorisation process, administration and management (licenses, agreements, re-transfers, re-exports, exemption/exceptions). 11. Support the business with knowledge, guidance and advice on all export and import matters in line with applicable national and international export control legislation, to minimize external support in ensuring company compliance. 12. Stay abreast of regulatory changes, emerging risks and best practices to mitigate risk and provide updates to the business. 13. Provide objective support for compliance checking activities within the team and across the business. 14. Support all audits concerning import and export control, internally and particularly with government agencies. Key Capabilities/Knowledge 1. Knowledge of customs, freight, or logistics procedures; 2. Be familiar with import and export controls 3. Knowledge, understanding of, and experience in implementing German Military controls, EU (Dual Use), and US is highly desirable 4. Basic experience in the selection and use of licences, licence exceptions, and development, implementation, and management of a compliance program, including training, policies, guidelines and procedures; 5. Experience in both hardware, software and technology export classification preferred 6. Experience in imports/exports related to the aviation industry preferred. 7. Numerate, with good written and verbal communication skills to allow communication of detailed and complicated subjects in a manner that is appropriate to the audience; 8. Methodical approach to problem solving and task prioritisation with exceptional attention to detail; 9. Strong influencing, communication and interpersonal skills; 10. Able to work well and make clear rational decisions under pressure; 11. Able to work as part of a team and autonomously by managing own workload; 12. Computer literate, with good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 13. Ability to work to tight timescales as dictated by the business Experience & Qualifications 1. Proven experience of working within a trade/customs related environment, preferably aviation. 2. Minimum 3 years' experience 3. Fluent in German, with English as a strong second language
