We want an Infrastructure Operations Engineer with Configuration Management experience to join our DWP Digital team as part of an ongoing strategy of expansion and improvement of configuration management across a variety of different projects.

You'll be working on our high priority Tech Services Programme. We provide secure, effective and cost-efficient digital infrastructure services and live IT operations. These are the foundations upon which digital services for DWP are developed and operate.

We're using technology to transform the way these products and services are delivered to more than 20 million users. We're making our services more efficient, and reliable, and easier for everyone to access.

We're also equipping up to 100,000 DWP colleagues with the tech and tools they need to better support our users and spend more time doing the work they love and which adds real value to citizens (and less time doing the stuff that tech solutions can do for them).

In this role you'll need be multi tasker who can work autonomously, as well as part of a team, to provide solution driven results.

Duties. Work. Projects.

Your role sits within our Configuration Management Team. We own, manage and set the direction for CMDB, CMDB utilisation and Configuration Management.

It's a varied role and you'll be responsible for a number of actvities which ensure that configuration management assets are robust, and that they continue to support the ongoing needs of Digital Products and Services.

You'll be responsible for the operations of secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and networks. You also maintain the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure.

This includes:

Monitoring the operating environments.
Investigating and responding to incidents and problems.
Continuous improvement of our systems and processes
Analysing service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability.
Managing and implementing changes
Collaborating with project stakeholders to identify Infrastructure Operations deliverablesWhat skills and experience are we looking for?

Experience of Configuration Management
You can apply tools, techniques and processes to track, log and correct information related to configuration items.
You can verify and approve changes ensuring protection of assets and components from unauthorised change, diversion and inappropriate use.
You can ensure that users comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates.
You have experience of performing audits to check the accuracy of information and undertakes any necessary corrective action under direction.
You have working experience of the tools, processes and techniques used to operate Configuration Management services.
You have working experience of the reporting and verification of CI data within a CMS.
Ideally, you will have also great Java scripting and Excel skills and knowledge of Tech Now. If you don't have these you'll have chance to learn here.Details. Wages. Perks.
