Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a HR Generalist Advisor to work within one of the UK's leading Universities on a 12 month FTC

You will be required to provide a full range of professional HR advice and guidance on all aspects of employee related issues.

Main Duties
Providing professional advice, guidance and support to managers in relation to performance, sickness, occupational health, conduct, discipline, grievance, secondments, TUPE, probation, AWOL
Develop sound customer relations, taking the time to understand wider needs and implications and manage expectations
Be the initial point of contact and support for other HR colleagues on more complex enquiries, taking responsibility for matters where appropriate
Ensure all correspondence with customers is clear and available on the work tracking system allowing HR colleagues to provide managers with further advice during absences from work
Providing advice and guidance to line managers on the University policy/procedures, using professional judgement to guide managers to a successful outcome/result
Take responsibility in investigating, resolving issues, providing advice, guidance and coaching to customers even when wider support or expertise is required
Ensure staff correspondence is appropriately recorded and stored in line with the Data Protection Act and University Policies and practices
Provide Advice and guidance managers in the monitoring and addressing of staff related issues
Support the development of staff and managers to meet future and current University need including own professional development
Provide timely and consistent policy and process advice to managers including coaching on their practical application ensuring ownership and responsibilities remain in the appropriate places
Develop tools for managers to enable them to effectively manage their staff
Contributes to regular team meetings, 1-1's and performance reviews ensuring that own skills are aligned to team, department and University requirements
Strive to improve performance through process improvement and challenge
Contribute to the development of SLAs, milestones and KPIs
Prioritise own work load and monitor the activities of work ensuring timely completion, managing managers expectations

Person Specification
CIPD qualified
HR experience of advising and supporting employees and managers re: policy and planning
Must be able to challenge constructively and assertively
Must be able to use a coaching style
Good up to date knowledge of employment law
Good IT skills, and an ability to learn new IT software
Higher Education experience is desirable
Must be highly organised with high level of customer service and accuracy/attention to detail
