JOB TITLE: Health Protection & Prevention Support Officer
LOCATION: Home based initially - Client office in Wandsworth, some travel to Richmond may also be required.
DURATION: 3 months minimum
PAY RATE: £198 - £266 per day Umbrella (PAYE and Deemed Employment rates available)
IR35 STATUS: Inside

Main purpose of the job:

The post holder will work closely with the Health Protection Infection Prevention & Control Lead with support responsibility for health protection to deliver key Health Protection aspects of the Public Health Outcomes Framework. This would be achieved by taking the support in ensuring there are clear and robust health protection, infection prevention and control arrangements embedded across a range of organisations which aims to protect the health of the public in Richmond and Wandsworth boroughs.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Support the review and update of the Covid Outbreak Control Plan.
Participate in the Rota to cover the queries in the generic mailbox set up to manage our COVID-19 response.
Liaise with council directorates and divisions to ensure appropriate responses to risk management scenarios.
Undertake effective surveillance of Covid-19 related incidents through effective liaison with the PHE London COVID -19 response centre
Provide verbal and written reports to a variety of fora including Divisional Management Teams, Core Public Health Team, Strategic Care Home Overview Group, and Borough Resilience Fora to ensure that effective plans are in place to protect the public's health from incidents and outbreaks.
Support the Health Protection and Infection Prevention Lead to represent health on Strategic Care Home Overview Group
Support the Health Protection and Infection Prevention Lead to submit weekly Whole Care Home Testing Programme Template to DHSC
Support the development of Strategic Outbreak Management Governance and Outbreak Management Plans.
Support the Health Protection and Infection Prevention Lead to provide Covid-19 related briefings for Elected Members, Directors and Service Leads.
Support the Health Protection and Infection Prevention Lead to investigate increased incidence of infections such as Flu and measles and develop local strategies to promote early detection and reduce spread.
Support the Health Protection and Infection Prevention Lead to contribute to the evaluation of the public health response to COVID-19 and support and assist in the implementation of strategies that improve performance.

Knowledge, experience, and skills required

Understanding of social and political environment, including national and local policy, strategies and guidance
An understanding and background knowledge of aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
Have an appreciation of the relationship between the DHSC, NHS England, Public Health England and individual provider and commissioning organisations
Understanding of Covid-19 epidemic including national and local impact, strategies and guidance.
Understanding of health and social care systems
The ability to demonstrate an advanced level of health protection and infection prevention knowledge and skills
Understanding of health protection, infection prevention and the approaches and tools used to improve health and wellbeing in this specialist area
Ability to carry out research and evaluate research carried out by others
Master's level education in Public Health / Infection Prevention / Risk Management related degree OR substantial experience of working in an area of Health Protection Infection Prevention & Control
