Business Architecture is a newly set up area of expertise and forms a key part of the Transformation and Change Team. Business Architecture is also a new community of practice within the Thames Water “Project Management and Business Architecture” Job Family.
The Head of Business Architecture is responsible for building the Business Architecture team, as well as defining and developing the Business Architecture practice to be industry leading.
Business Architecture includes a business' operating model (‘ways of working’ or processes, tools and applications, data and insight), and defines how the operating model delivers value to and interacts with customers, external stakeholders and regulators.
The Head of Business Architecture is accountable for the design and improvement of the Thames Water Business Architecture, using agreed and measurable business performance indicators.
This leadership position gives the role holder the opportunity to shape and lead a new community of practice and build a team that will provide crucial input and support to any business change programme.
The role is a critical and senior position for Thames Water, with key internal stakeholders at Director, CFO and CEO level, as well as external shareholders such as Thames Water’s regulators.
This is a new capability within Thames that needs to be designed, built, implemented and improved. It requires business architecture subject matter expertise and a proven track record with a big ‘4’’ consultancy experience would be highly beneficial.
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
Defining and improving the Thames Water Operating Model (business processes, roles and accountabilities, business systems and data and insight), prioritising operational excellence, cost efficiency and customer experience.
Within this role you will be working with a variety of internal departments and third party business partners who will have their own mixture of views of what is needed to be delivered, you will make sure you identify these and find the solutions to deliver them in a lean style methodology that not all parties will have worked to previously so you will guide educate and influence so you can drive a high-performance delivery focused culture.
Your previous experience covering a high number of years would include you delivering multiple million-pound Digital Transformation programmes within Telecoms, finance, banking or energy environment.
You will be defining key metrics to measure the quality and performance of the Operating Model, defining procedures to measure compliance and performance, and to take appropriate actions for improvement.
Performing the role of Business Architecture Design Authority, designing and approving or rejecting any suggested change to any element of the Operating Model.
- Defining business processes (down to level 4)
- Defining data and insight capabilities
- Defining the organisational functions and responsibilities needed to implement the operating model
Ensuring business and operational readiness to adopt to the changes is implemented, managing all other change related impacts to the business resulting from programme implementation.
You will build and lead the Business Architecture practice within Thames Water, designing and owning the overall Thames Water Business Architecture and Operating Model and be responsible for the overall sign-off of any proposed business solution, impacting or risking to impact any element of the Thames Water operating model.
The practice will include the team to have business architecture experts, who will provide high quality support, advice and final approvals to all major business change programmes.
You will design the customer experience and operational requirements, as well as the quality criteria associated with each phase of the programme, designing the end-to-end Service Model for each change and making sure the customer experience and operational requirements are ‘joined up’.
Some of your qualifications include:
- ITIL Master
- Prince 2 Practitioner
- APM Project Professional Qualification (PPQ)
- Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) and/or Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB)
