Telent Group Network & Security Engineer, Warwick/Flexible Working Location - Permanent

In these extraordinary times of the coronavirus outbreak Telent is continuing to Recruit. We provide services to customers which are integral to providing mission critical systems and infrastructure across the UK and Ireland and we need to continue to deliver those services.

To help limit the amount of face to face contact during the recruitment process, we will now do more online assessments and use Skype/Conf Calls for interviews wherever possible.

With current annual revenues in excess of £400M and 2,400 employees. We operate within various industry sectors including Rail, Traffic, Public Safety, Defence, Service Providers, Enterprise and Public Sector.

Role Profile:

Reporting to the Group Principal Security Engineer and working within the CTO Office. This central function is responsible for supporting the Telent Group in providing strategy, leadership, guidance and direction in critical areas of infrastructure, technology, applications, policy and procedural aspects.
The Group Network & Security Engineer role is key to supporting Telent transformational programmes and continual service improvement, providing design, implementation and support of business-critical systems across the Telent ICT estate.
To be successful in this role you are considered a SME in network security design and implementation and will have extensive experience in the delivery of managed services and support of critical networks.

Typical Deliverables:

Design and implement security & networking solutions through to operational support, considering multi-supplier/multi-platform environments across the Telent group.
Support the delivery of Security Architectures/Strategies as part of a broader Enterprise and IS/IT Architecture.
Interpret and apply appropriate standards, policies and legislation whilst working with Information Assurance (IA) leads from across the business.
Apply the principles of secure network, applications, gateways & interfaces across Telent.
Evaluate new technologies and deliver proof of value environments to support business use cases.
Produce, peer-review and maintain high-level, low-level technical documentation and network schematics.
Develop, implement & maintain processes to ensure the continued security posture and operation of Telent networks.
Identify and mitigate technology and service risks.
Act as a technical lead during service & security incidents.
Operate on a 24x7 on-call support rota.
Occasional - travel to other Telent locations and requirement to work outside of core working hours.

We'd be delighted to hear from you if you have the following skills/experience:

5 Years minimum experience implementing and supporting Cisco network and security technologies in enterprise environments.
Experience working within Rail, Public Sector, HMG or within Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).
Knowledge of current trends and developments in information technology.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Skill in organising resources and establishing priorities.
Proven team player.
Demonstrated ability to provide solution designs.
Demonstrated ability to explain secure system designs in terms of risk mitigation.
Demonstrate strong troubleshooting knowledge.
Proven ability to produce documentation to a high standard.

Business Operations Skills - Qualifications:

CCNP Security or CCNP Routing & Switching.
Cisco ASA & Firepower (Inc. VPN, AMP & IPS).
Cisco Catalyst Core, Distribution & LAN Access Switching.
Cisco ISR Routing.
Cisco Wireless LAN Solutions.
Experience with Web Proxy solutions.

Desirable Technical Skills:

SD-Access (DNA Centre and ISE)
Experience with Palo Alto, Check Point, Juniper or Fortinet firewalls.
Exposure to IaaS cloud platforms
Understanding of Microsoft technologies
Experience with multi-factor authentication solutions.
