About Clyde

The Senior Project Manager role is based within our Fleet Programmes business area.

As the Ministry of Defence's commercial partner at HMNB Clyde, Babcock provides specialist engineering support services, including the management of infrastructure and nuclear facilities. We also deliver operational maintenance, upgrades and repairs to support Royal Navy vessels, including the Vanguard and Astute-Class nuclear submarines.

The role

The difference our new Senior Project Manager will make

As a Senior Project Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. To manage major submarine projects and operate at an advanced Project Management level.

Leading a significant project within the organisation and possibly Project Managers with less complex sub packages within the overall context of the Major Project.

Responsibilities will include -

Development of Project Plans, schedules, risk and assumptions registers and other project documentation in accordance with published processes. Delivery of project to the baseline schedule/cost and performance in line with these project plans and business success criteria.

Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of the project, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities that align with the company Business Management System, including being accountable for planning and monitoring the programme (profit & loss); agree plans with the Sponsor and submit/present regular Monthly Review Reports indicating any deviations and corrective action taken

Managing the Customer Interface and associated management of the project including identification and monitoring of project risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing response to these and responding to other issues that affect the project.

Leading the project to deliver world class performance by means of employee engagement, continuous improvement and identifying and implementing the latest technology.

Essential experience
Proven experience in the delivery of Marine Engineering maintenance programmes would be advantageous, or Submarine domain experience gained in a Marine Engineering Officer role
APM PMQ or Prince 2 certification desirable although we will also consider candidates with proven full lifecycle project management experience
Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic and changing environment, with demonstrable ability to prioritise and coordinate multiple work streams.
Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
Confidence and interpersonal skills to engage at all levels, including management of customer expectations.
Experience of handling conflict and managing sensitive issues to achieve positive outcomes.
Ability to gain and maintain UK SC level security clearance
