Job Description

The largest water and waste-water services company in the UK is seeking an experienced Fleet Compliance Advisor to join its expanding team based in central Reading, Berkshire. On a typical day, it supplies 2.6 billion litres of top quality drinking water and its 350-sewage treatment works to treat more than 4.2bn litres of waste-water. This high-profile role is at the forefront of an exciting time of change as the team is embedded within the business and brings technical expertise closer to the front line. You will be exposed to varied transformation projects across the sludge stream such as energy generation, energy consumption and chemical / de-watering and directly contribute to the success.

The successful candidate will support the Fleet Operations and Compliance Manager in the delivery of a legally compliant and cost effective vehicle and plant fleet operation, through effective maintenance cost management and analysis, monitoring and managing of statutory, manufacturer and company specific vehicle and plant maintenance and testing requirements to ensure no risk to compliance, along with the supporting of compliance to the Operator Licence obligations.

The role of Fleet Operations & Compliance Advisor will require you to:
Maintain compliance of our mixed fleet of circa 2,500 assets, including cars, LCVs, HGVs and plant, in line with both statutory and company specific standards.

Protect the Company's Operators Licence, through timely and effective management and administration, including tachograph analysis, vehicle maintenance and inspections, notifications to the Traffic Commissioner.

Ensure optimum vehicle availability through the effective management of vehicle downtime associated with both maintenance and crash repair.

Identify further opportunities to reduce downtime through monitoring trends and making recommendations for updates to maintenance schedules supported by costs/benefit analysis.

Manage costs associated with vehicle repair and maintenance, challenging and seeking solutions with consideration to operational and financial impacts.

Manage the end to end solution of checking and maintaining vehicles ready for reallocation back out to the business.

Maintain accurate and timely maintenance records on fleet database to enable accurate financial forecasting and trend analysis.

Maintain optimum pool vehicle fleet in line with business and operational requirements.

Adopt a continuous improvement approach to processes and procedures falling within your remit, providing support to other team members within your area of expertise.

Manage small projects and develop business cases to support change and innovation.

What skills are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role. Be qualified in motor vehicle engineering/technician. And will have knowledge of transport law, road traffic law and enforcement, along with other relevant legislation.

Intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and a Transport Manager CPC is desirable.
