Job Description

a fantastic opportunity is available for a Finance Support Officer to join a professional organisation in Birmingham City centre

The role and responsibilities
-Responsible for preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations for review by Finance Business Partners and investigation and clearance of reconciling items
-Effective and efficient preparation of monthly manual journals
-Responsible for preparation of regular reconciliations of bank accounts
-Analysis of expenses and preparation of recode journals
-Provide efficient and effective support in the operation of financial controls (e.g. expense claims)
-Undertaken ad-hoc investigations and clearance of balance sheet reconciling items
-Systematically monitors and reconciles the Finance system, Microsoft Dynamics AX, for example, access rights, HR data in the system.
-Supporting the Finance Transactions Manager and the wider team (e.g. liaising within finance and the wider business on long outstanding credit balances and documenting and supporting decision to write off / refund)
-Support in ad-hoc projects (e.g. review of access rights for segregation of duties, review licensing requirements by reviewing access rights versus live worker profiles)
-Manage conflicting priorities of multiple stakeholders
-Proactively identifies areas for financial process improvement and makes proposals to management for implementation
-Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery
-Work with customers to ensure timely payments and adherence to the credit terms
-Contact customers to encourage full and on-time payment of accounts

To be considered for the role you must have Accountancy knowledge and experience
-Accountancy knowledge
-Excellent attention to detail and ability to work through large volumes of data with a high level of accuracy
-Highly numerate
-IT literate and strong understanding of MS computer packages with advanced excel skills
-Experience of working in a finance department
-Ability to work with confidential data
-Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise work
-Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
-Basic understanding of VAT and taxation rules
-AAT or equivalent
Experience of Dynamics 365
-Ensuring strict deadlines are adhered to
-Maintaining detailed timetables ensuring individuals are aware of their deliverables
-Ability to manage the demands of multiple stakeholders
