Job Description

Independent safety regulator is seeking an experienced Finance Executive to support their Finance team at their London offices.

This is a temporary role to start ASAP and will pay £17.70 per hour.

The Finance Executive will support the Finance team who are responsible for all payments of expenditure including staff expenses and the recovery of income from industry. The Finance team is also responsible for all external and internal financial reporting including that required by Government and statute. The duties of the Finance Executive will include:
  • Participation in twice weekly payment runs, ensuring invoices are processed promptly and paid within Government's prompt payment timetable
  • Coding of invoices/credit notes received to include correct general ledger account, cost centre and any analysis code required
  • Checking invoices against Purchase order log/Contract request forms for authorisation of expenditure
  • Maintenance of the register of invoices ensuring no late payments or duplicates and all disputed invoices are resolved efficiently
  • Processing the expense claims of employees ensuring completeness and accuracy of claims
  • Dealing with queries from internal and external customers
  • Posting journals and other accounting entries
  • Scanning and filing of paid invoices and expense claims
  • Paying receipts into the organisations bank account
  • Maintenance of accounts receivable function; raising invoices and coding and posting on the system, updating the finance log and chasing missing payments
The ideal Finance Executive will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Previous experience in a similar finance role
  • Experience of working with accounting software such as SUN Systems
  • A good level of competence in managing data so that it is accurate and easily located
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate financial information to non-finance colleagues in an accessible way
  • An ability to identify risks and issues to communicate them clearly to managers
  • An ability to be flexible and positive, demonstrating a "can do" attitude
  • Demonstrates a high level of competence using standard IT packages, especially Excel at an intermediate level
