We are looking for a Support Practicioners to join our Service based in Southampton on permanent basis.  We have both full time and part time hours available (20 - 37.5 hours a week).  Shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins, weekends and bank holidays.  You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £60.00 for any sleep in shifts carried out. The payment for sleep ins is non-contractual.

About the Service

The people we support in Southampton are looking for someone with a great sense of humour to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess good people skills, willingness to be hands on, attention to detail, compassionate, kind and have a positive nature.  Roles will including supporting into the Community, visiting family members, outings, shopping, cooking, assisting with housework, exercises and personal care and much more.

We are currently taking part in testing a new way of working. We are becoming a more self-empowered team with a view of ensuring the people we support are active in our community and have a great quality of life. What does a Support Practitioner do?

As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will enormously contribute to the people we support, living a more comfortable, dignified, independent and happy life. You will also be working in a more self-empowered way, you are the people that build good relationships with the people we support.

This could include;

Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day and assisting with bathing, showering, and using the bathroom.

Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.

Excellent communication skills/relationship building – supporting the person to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.

Community & Social Inclusion- Supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and independence.

Working with a range of internal and external people including family, local authorities and health professionals, constantly seeking ways to improve people we supports lives.

Working within the scope of a framework to keep people safe and understand where you have freedom to make the changes that you think will work.

Taking an interest in a particular area of support for the service including Quality, Data Finance and Working with people. This could be a part of your career pathway.
