Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Female Relief Support Worker to join our Supported Living Service based in Stowmarket (Suffolk).  Due to the nature of this role, you will need to have a full driving licence and access to a car for work would be advantage as you will be required to travel.

As a Relief Support Worker flexibility is key as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts.  You should have the ability to work flexibly across various shifts between the hours of 07:00am - 22:00pm to include days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins (22:00 - 07:00).

About the Service

Cardinalls Road is a 24 hour Supported Living Service where three ladies live.  They have a very full and fun social life!  Their interests include bowling, trips to the zoo, visiting the cinema, participating in different clubs, theatre/concert outings, visiting friends and family, disco and parties, going to the pub and eating out, watching movies at home and playing board games.

We support with daily living tasks which can involve anything from just a chat and wellbeing checks through to support with personal care, shopping, household chores, cooking, finances and administering medication. Full training will be given.

The role of a Relief Support Worker can be challenging at times, so it is essential to have a positive mind-set with a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability.  You will need to be quick thinking and have a positive can-do attitude.

What does a Relief Support Worker do?

As a Relief Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will enormously contribute to the people we support, living a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.

Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.

Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.

Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.

Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day. This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom. Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
