At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as an Environmental Advisor at either of our Minley or Chatham sites and will be expected to cover sites across contract.

The role

As an Environmental Advisor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the organisation is able to deliver both compliance and best practice.

Day to day, you'll provide advice to our client and carry out audits and site inspections. Other responsibilities include;

  • Assist sites to maintain Environmental Management Systems (EMSAS and 14001) including permit and legal compliance
  • Undertake environmental assessments, site inspections and environmental audits
  • Compiling and reporting utility, carbon, water and waste data in a manner that is appropriate and suitable
  • Undertake incident investigation to learn lessons and implement environmental improvements
  • Support project management teams on project sustainability, capturing and evaluating various data to stakeholders
  • Assist on any social value initiatives
  • Support to line manager with the delivery of the environmental and decarbonisation strategy, the group environmental commitments and any other future strategies and commitments from group

Essential experience of the Environmental Advisor,

  • Knowledge of lifecycle analysis
  • Incident investigation experience
  • Audit experience
  • Previous experience in an environment related role (SHE, Energy Advisor etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience of BREAAM is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of biodiversity and ecological assessments is desirable

This role provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home with travel to other sites.

Qualifications for the Environmental Advisor,

  • Environmental degree (or equivalent) or experience of on or off-site support in construction, infrastructure, or consultancy sectors, or associated industries
  • Affiliate or Associate IEMA or equivalent qualification desirable

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
