Marine Engineering & Systems - T31

The Engineering Manager role is based within our Marine Engineering & Systems - T31 business area.

Babcock is rapidly establishing itself as an international Naval ship designer and builder. We have built on the success of the UK MoD Type 31 Frigate and have secured contracts for frigate export variants (AH140) with overseas customers. As well as supporting exports of frigates the engineering team is actively working on other ship newbuild and life extension programs around the world, from small fast attack craft all the way up to aircraft carriers.

The role

The difference our new Engineering Manager will make

As a Engineering Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Working with a highly skilled and dedicated time, together you will achieve goals in timescales never seen before.

Day to day, you'll hold responsibility for the compilation and maintenance of accurate ship ILS Registers, liaising as required with Team 31 personnel, including ILS IKM and SA Leads, Commissioning, Operations and Supply Chain.

Acting as the focal point for obsolescence and support the Obsolescence Manager in updating of the Obsolescence Management Plan and Obsolescence Register and in the development of Obsolescence Action Plans.

You will represent Team 31 Head of Supportability to aid resolution of any Register issues on site in Rosyth and be part of broader supportability deliverables as defined in the T31 Design and Build contract and as directed by the Platform ILS Lead or T31 Head of Supportability.

Essential experience
Understanding of warship systems and equipment.
Working knowledge of RN Maintenance Management policies and practices (BR1313).
Working understanding of appropriate ILS Defence Standards including 00-600 and 02-041.
Ability to work in a complex, multi-discipline team.
Strong written communication skills; the delivery of well structured, unambiguous technical documentation and reports.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Degree or HNC qualified in an engineering discipline (mechanical, marine, electrics/electronics, systems or information systems) or relevant experience at the discretion of the Warships Engineering Director / T31 Head of Supportability.
Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer working towards Chartered status.
