Job Description

About the role:

You will be responsible for carrying out the planned and defect maintenance of FLIP (Active Drainage Anti Flooding) devices throughout the Thames Water area. You will inspect, fault diagnose and maintain devices fitted at properties, in a safe efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision.

You will be required to:
  • Carry out routine planned preventative and reactive maintenance of Active drainage Flip devices.
  • Carry out electrical or mechanical installation work at properties and sites at which Flip devices are installed.
  • Trouble shooting electrical and mechanical fault finding whilst providing specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training support for technical trainees.
  • Liaising with external customers at properties at which Flip devices are installed.
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

Are you a qualified electrician and who has electrical experience working on industrial plant equipment? Have you completed an apprenticeship, or have a BTEC HNC or equivalent in an electrical subject? To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate that you are an experienced Electrical Engineer.

This is a manual role, therefore it is essential that you are physically fit and prepared to work in a challenging environment on a daily basis. We are looking for an apprenticeship-served, 17th edition electrician. Due to the nature of this role domestic experience is not suitable. You must have the ability to work with minimum supervision and have knowledge of health and safety issues ideally relevant to the water industry.

A full, UK driving licence is essential.

What’s in it for you:

You will join a specialist team responsible for maintaining FLIP devices throughout the Thames Water region. This is the only team maintaining these Active Drainage Devices that are crucial to the protection of properties from flooding from the Main Sewers.

Our competitive salary package includes an excellent contributory pension, 24 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with length of service and a wider benefits scheme. This includes an annual pay review, season ticket loans, voucher scheme giving you money off in major retail outlets, loyalty awards for continuous service plus much more, including our refer-a-friend bonus, where you can receive up to £1,000 for helping someone get a permanent position within the company.

We’re also proud to be here for our local community, offering all of our teams two days paid volunteer leave a year, as well as proudly supporting a lot of local events and charities.
