The role

As an Electrical Fitter, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Areas of responsibility will include carrying out electrical fitting activities including planned and preventative maintenance, defect identification and repair on systems within our Utilities business area.

Please note that the role holder must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

Day to day, you'll work within a team which is responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, testing and commissioning activities on Utilities equipment. Typical equipment you may be working on will include HV and LV systems, Diesel Generators, Sea Water Cooling Systems.
Completion of all planned preventative maintenance to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
Completion of all defect and repair activity to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity and safety in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems Of Work and control of work processes in accordance with Clyde policies.
Operate utilities systems and equipment in accordance with relevant procedures.

Essential experience of the Electrical Fitter
Previous Electrical Fitter experience within a HV or industrial environment, would be advantageous
You will be able to understand and read drawings and can think on your feet and problem solve with a high attention to detail and fault finding.
Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality work to meet acceptance standards.
Experience of maintenance procedures, risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work with excellent team working skills.

This role is based on-site at HMNB Clyde.

Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter
Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ and C&G equivalent) or HNC and above in an Electrical Engineering discipline with industry experience.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
