At our site in Devonport, we aim to deliver engineering-led and world-leading products and services across our engineering, specialised manufacturing, gas handling systems and naval marine businesses

The role

The difference our new Electrical Engineering Designer will make,

As a Electrical Engineering Designer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will support the exciting design stage of ship building.

Day to day, you as a designer, will be responsible for the generation of design guidance information with sufficient detail to enable the safe and effective integration of system and equipment changes to complex MOD assets (predominantly Warships and Submarines). You will also be required to develop innovative design solutions across the complete design lifecycle and to produce a range of technical outputs and deliverables to the required standards.

Essential experience
You'll need to hold an ONC (or BTEC Level 3) in a relevant engineering subject or to hold a suitable qualification with demonstrable knowledge of platform electrical systems, design processes and experience in a design environment or demonstrable experience in a marine/engineering environment (shipbuilding).
You will also have undertaken an engineering apprenticeship in a relevant discipline or possess transferable skills from demonstrable experience in a marine/engineering environment.
You will have appropriate CAD skills, written and verbal communication skills and an understanding of risk management.

Successful candidates will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) level clearance.
