Job Description

Job Advert

We are looking for a Domestic Assistant/Cook to join our Service based in Plymouth on a permanent, part time basis (25 hours per week worked between 12 noon and 5pm).  You will be tasked with cooking healthy and nutritious meals for the people we support who live in the house.

There will be occasions where you may be required to work additional hours to support the house should there be a party or other service needs but advance notice will be given.   The people we support need to eat 365 days of the year so there will be some requirement to work over bank holidays etc.

Ideally you will have some experience of cooking in a professional capacity and it is essential that you hold a Food Hygiene Certificate. You will undertake the shopping for the house and therefore a driving license is also essential.  We are a residential home and we look after 8 people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Almost everyone who lives at the service is on a SaLT assessment with their food and drink bar one lady who is nil by mouth and fed via a PEG. A SaLT assessment means that the food and drink we serve people must be prepared and modified according to the guidelines we receive.  You will receive training in this area and there are always staff on hand to support with this.

You will be required to complete the ‘Safer food, better business’ paperwork so knowledge of this would be advantageous.
