The Director of Public Health and Prevention will be the systems leader to drive improvements in the health and wellbeing of the residents of Bath and North East Somerset, to reduce inequalities in health outcomes and working in collaboration with Public Health England (PHE) to protect local communities from threats to their health through infectious diseases, environmental and other public health hazards.
You will work in partnership with the Chief Executive and Councillors to develop and deliver the Council's strategic agenda and be the principal adviser on public health to the council, local communities and local partners.
You will need to demonstrate that you have the necessary knowledge, skills and experience, gained through either a previous DPH role or as a Public Health consultant leading on key programmes of work that have delivered outcomes for communities.
You will be an established leader with experience in epidemiological surveillance related to COVID-19 with an understanding of NHS and local government cultures, structures and policies. You will have the skills to provide a clear strategic direction; driving forward initiatives in improving public health and promoting population health within CLCH.
You must be an exceptional communicator able to work inclusively and collaboratively to cultivate strong working relationships internally and with a wide range of external stakeholders.
You will hold the following Essential Qualifications: Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist Register/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists. If included in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist Register in a speciality other than public health medicine/dental public health, you must have equivalent training and/or appropriate experience of public health medicine practice.
