Ballington House is a thirteen bed locked rehabilitation unit for adults with enduring mental health needs where the team put the service users at the centre of everything that they do.

You will have previous experience of working in a mental health setting as a ward manager or head of care. You will have a demonstrable record of effective and positive leadership with excellent knowledge and understanding of mental health issues, risk management and therapeutic interventions as well as being able to co-ordinate the team, follow procedures and ensure a safe environment is maintained.

As an integral part of the team you will be responsible for the management of the rota and ensuring that regulatory reporting is completed in a timely manner. You will offer the team guidance and training as required to ensure they have the skills necessary for their role. You will also be required to deputise for the Hospital Director in their absence and take an active part in the on-call manager rota.

Your responsibilities will include:

Ensuring that the team core values, and quality of care are at the forefront of patient centred care
Taking an active lead role in Clinical Governance structures, inspections, and commissioner/funder/network meetings
Taking an active part in and chair/lead subgroups in accordance with service need
Supporting Hospital Director with managing the budget, exercising effective cost control in line with budget and service requirements, considering staff allocation, daily numbers, and additional use of premium rate staff to ensure the budget is effectively managed
Managing mandatory training for nursing staff
Supervising and mentoring qualified and unqualified staff including students and actively monitoring, supporting and directing others to do the same, promoting a learning and reflective culture.
To be successful in this role, you will need:

Registered Nurse Qualification (Mental Health/Learning Disability)
At least 5 years post qualification experience
Knowledge of legislation related to health & safety, nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and other professions
Strong clinical nursing skills
Strong team-working skills
A high level of self-motivation and a flexible approach
A positive attitude and be naturally caring, compassionate and empathetic
A commitment to high-quality care and to values and evidence-based practice.

Location: Ballington Gardens, Leek, Staffordshire ST13 5LW

You will be working at Ballington House, a 13 bedded mental health rehabilitation hospital that provides services for women with complex mental health needs.

The environment at Ballington House is a unique aspect of the service with care provided in one of six apartments which offer single and two person accommodation.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to support women who often have complex mental health and co-morbid conditions.
