About the role

We currently have an opportunity for a Delivery Co-ordinator to join the Fleet Engineering team at Babcock Marine Clyde.

You will provide appropriate equipment solutions (PSSE, ASE, tooling and equipment) to the Fleet Engineering function to meet the workshop and project demands and appoint, lead and manage a team of industrial, non-industrial, RN personnel and where required sub-contractors to achieve the delivery of work packages. Work packages will include but not limited to light and heavy constructive / fabrication on submarines and surface ships, including cabin refurbishment, removal and replacement of acoustic tiling.

You will ensure delivery of objectives in terms of safety, cost, time and quality requirements and use technical capability to plan and schedule packages of work.

You will review equipment loading across individual projects, identifying any gaps in equipment developing appropriate solutions to overcome these, and ensure equipment and tooling is maintained, recorded and available to Delivery Teams when required and all operators are trained in their use.

You will create and maintain an environment which leads to safe working attitudes and practices, promoting the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies during projects ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out.

You will work with your Delivery Manager to manage team development and performance of the Delivery Teams. You will promote an environment of continuous improvement and employee participation, with a focus on developing and employing standardised systems and processes throughout and across future projects. Additional responsibilities will include Reporting relevant resource related performance to the Delivery Support Manager and keeping other key stakeholders informed. Carrying out H&S Toolkit, Disciplinary Investigations/Hearings in support of the Fleet Engineering Department.

What do I need to do the role?

You will demonstrate significant experience from both a technical and line management background, with a track record ideally within mechanical engineering in the defence and marine industry. Key areas of competency we require will include:

* Ability to plan, prioritise and manage workload and resources within a high pressure environment
* Ability to produce clear, concise and well-structured reporting
* Demonstrable track record of managing and motivating large and multi-disciplined teams to meet project requirements
* Effective communication skills and competence in stakeholder / relationship management
* Experience of working to Risk, COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work; including reviewing and writing risk assessments and conducting investigations
* Minimum of HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline would be an advantage
* Experience of working in the defence or marine industry

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
