Job Description

Commercial Analyst (Telecoms Department)
Location: Houghton Le Spring
Salary: £23,877
Temporary: Up until December 2019

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Analyst to join our client Northern Powergrid.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that invoices from the Service providers are sent to Northern Powergrid correctly and that Accounts Payable receives them and processes them. The role will be to check this data and send the details of the charges to be allocated internal to the Finance teams. Working to a month end deadline to ensure all invoices are processed or to do an accrual for any missing charges. Answer any questions from Service Providers or Accounts Payable or our third parties on any invoices in any month.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for;
  • Work with Accounts Payable to answer any questions and to resolve any escalations as requested.
  • Billing management for mobile and fixed Telecom services.
  • Assist the PMO with project administration
  • Maximise savings and minimise spending on the Telecom products and services
  • Trend analysis of invoices, challenge charges and resolve billing disputes
  • Continual self-development and commercial administration training to maintain an appropriate and current understanding of industry best practices, as required
  • Regularly review external maintenance contracts due for renewal with the lead engineers before renewal payments are made
  • Support the internal and external auditing of the telecoms commercial administration service, including owning and delivery assigned audit actions within agreed timescale
  • Fully support reasonable alterations to normal duties, and additional measures that may be required during period where the Major Incident Management Plan(MIMP) is invoked
  • Comply with health, safety and environment policies and procedure

  • Ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft Office applications
  • Fine attention to detail
  • Five (5) years commercial administration experience
  • Confidence in dealing with other Businesses and internal business units alike
Qualifications & Attributes
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Educated to Higher Education Qualification (FHEQ) - Level 4 or equivalent. E.g Higher National Certificate. Preferable numerical based.
  • Accounting knowledge a must
  • Strong financial system experience
  • Monthly and adhoc report generation
  • Requirements gathering and systems analysis
  • Confidence in dealing with other Businesses and internal business units alike
  • Five (5) years commercial administration experience

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • ITIL Foundation
  • Knowledge of working with telecom vendors is desirable
  • Negotiation of telecom contractual terms and conditions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent application skills (MS office, CFS)
  • Knowledge of navigating web portals
  • With tender submission, evaluation, contract award and procurement process
