As Chief Data Acquisition Systems Engineer you will be a Functional Manager responsible for facilitating planning, management and conduct of all Development Test Data Acquisition activities in support of helicopter flight trials (including off-site flight trials) and processing/presentation of Helicopter Performance Data for Mission Planning. Specific Programmes include EH101, AW101 International, AW159 and Super Lynx 300 Export variants.
You will be expected to manage development of capability to support UAV operations and you will also be responsible for developing and maintaining strong cross geography integration with the wider business Data Acquisition Group using the same methods and processes.
Key Responsibility Areas
*Lead and manage the team of Performance, Test Data Analysis and Computer programmers within the DAS Department with the responsibility to:
*Planning, management and conduct of all Development Test Data Acquisition activities to support flight trials (including off-site flight trials)
*Data Acquisition input to the test & evaluation process.
*Support to development of flying techniques to achieve optimised performance from helicopter variants.
*Processing/reduction of flight data to formulate Helicopter Operating Data Manuals containing performance data to aid mission planning.
*Formulation of flight envelopes.
*Facility and knowledge to support of company bid activities, providing performance data substantiating customer specified mission profiles.
*Continuous review, development and improve the processes and methods used
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
*Degree in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering discipline.
*Fundamental understanding of Rotorcraft aerodynamics, propulsion, and performance.
*Familiarity with rotorcraft flight characteristics, first-principles analyses, and performance methods.
*Specific working knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems, helicopter ground and flight test procedures.
*Knowledge of analysis/modelling techniques using PC based tools to evaluate rotorcraft performance flight test data acquired in specific phases of flight including Hover/low speed, climb, descent, Cruise and dynamic phases, as well as overall mission analysis.
*Knowledge and experience of aircraft design and development practices and techniques, including the official requirements of military and civil Authorities, e.g. DEF STAN 970, BCAR, JAR, FAR etc.
