Covid-19 has dramatically impacted on the mental health of many during 2020, however university students are a group that have been severely affected, with many students living alone for the first time, unable to see friends and in an unfamiliar environment.

We need your help...

Randstad Student Support are looking for 3 experienced, qualified counsellors to provide remote support to students who attend the University of Salford for two weeks over the festive period.

The role will begin on the 19th December.

Responsibilities:

The support covers two aspects:

Scheduled check in phone calls (30/45 minutes) to students on existing caseloads who may need additional talking support and advice around mental health during the christmas break. You will be provided with a list of the students beforehand.
Risk assessment/advice/external referral of crisis students who will be referred to you by a remote duty manager (University staff member) who is covering any incoming student issues that crop up during the two weeks.
You will be paid £30 per hour for outgoing calls and £15 per hour when on standby for the duty manager.

Requirements:

Must be a qualified counsellor or Mental Health Nurse
Accredited Membership of BACP or UKCP, or NMC membership with at least 1 year's experience
Must hold a valid in date DBS/be on the DBS update service
Must have good listening skills
Must have risk assessment skills
Must have up to date safeguarding training
Ability to maintain clear therapeutic boundaries and manage safeguarding and confidentiality issues
Ability to work under pressure
A commitment to following professional and ethical principles and guidelines
A commitment to the principles of equality and inclusion
Sound IT skills, including word-processing, email, online research and data processing
