With a forward order book of over £500m, the organisation is currently riding the crest of a wave and employs 3,000 staff to build their range of craft here in the UK. With a hugely skilled workforce, the organisation manufactures a lot of its parts in-house, generating a purchasing cost of in excess of £100m per annum.
Tasked with overseeing the cost management of commodity groups across the business, the Contract Buyer will be a key member within the organisation. Reporting into purchasing management, the role will include the following duties and responsibilities:
- Ongoing analysis of supplier spend
- Supplier performance benchmarking
- Negotiation of long term contracts and relationships
- Analysis of market trends, currency fluctuations and other material cost factors
- Monthly reporting on relationships, costs savings and market movements.
As an individual you will have come from a 'full cycle' purchasing role within a manufacturing environment (ideally marine) and be used to working with high value purchasing budgets. You'll be analytical and confident in negotiations at all times. Working with internal and external stakeholders, you'll be able to offer educated, factual advice to all involved. Of further interest, but by no means essential, is a CIPS qualification.
A salary of £26,000 per annum is on offer for this role, plus various benefits.
