Join the team at Chadwick Lodge and Eaglestone View as a Consultant Psychiatrist and enjoy a caseload of up to 25 service users, where all are detained under the Mental Health Act.
You will be supported by a full multidisciplinary team with junior doctor support in a hospital that has regular visiting GPs and a primary care team. It is one of the biggest secure hospitals within the Elysium group, with current provision for 114 beds starting from medium secure to locked and acute provision and plans to develop further.
The New Care Model programme delivered at Chadwick Lodge brings excellent opportunities for partnership working with peers across the Oxford provider collaborative to deliver secure services not only for the Oxford and Wessex regions but also other parts of the country like the Midlands and London but also from the Celtic heartlands like Wales and even Ireland.
The hospital has an established CPD programme and encourages collaboration with universities. It currently has academic links with Brunel University as well as The Institute of Psychiatry, King's College, London. Participation in Royal College of Psychiatrists activities are also actively encouraged, with several consultants holding positions of importance within the College structure. The consultants have their own PDP peer group within the hospital. There are 2 other full-time and 3 part-time consultants as well as 5 AS doctors to cover the whole hospital.
Chadwick Lodge and Eaglestone View provides secure services for males and females in partnership with the NHS, as well as a female specialist DBT service and an acute male ward, both of which have dedicated consultant provision. The post-holder is likely to have a case load of up to 15 medium secure patients, combination of male and female, and up to 10 low secure patients.
We seek to appoint a dynamic new full-time consultant for an established post vacated by the retirement of the current post-holder. The post-holder will be able to contribute to clinical governance processes within the hospital and the chance to contribute to the development of new and innovative services in the hospital based on the needs of the NHS.
Chadwick Lodge is situated in Milton Keynes, right next to the Milton Keynes General Hospital and has good rail and road links not only with London and the Midlands but also with Oxford and Cambridge.
