About the Role
Working as part of our Defence Systems Technology (DST) business we're looking for a Commercial Officer to join us. DST forms a critical part of Babcock's Marine organisation. Working across a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, our 1,500 strong team operate from a number of sites across the UK and internationally ensuring our global customer portfolio is always supported.
The successful individual will be working in a small but highly effective team that is the cornerstone of driving business growth and delivery to our customers. We do not expect you to be a 'ready-made' commercial officer. What we are looking for is ambitious, brave people who are hungry to learn. Energetic people who are value-driven and able to find a way to make things work - to test, learn, and adapt.
The commercial team develops business and contract solutions. Operating throughout the lifecycle of a project, and across DST; from bid, through design, build and support, the team of 45 based predominantly in Bristol, brokers the best deals possible and defends Intellectual Property. They value pragmatism, commitment, innovation, relationships, intelligent risk taking and high performance. And they're continually focused on improving. The work is challenging, varied and significant.
What do I need to do the role?
You could be an Assistant Commercial Officer looking to take a step up in your career, or someone looking to transition into a commercial officer role
A background in procurement, engineering, construction, legal or account management would be useful if you are not already a Commercial Officer
Experience with customer delivery and building relationships
Ideally degree qualified in Engineering, Business, Law or similar
What else do I need to know?
You should hold or have the ability to obtain full SC clearance
Travel: UK and potential to travel abroad as required
