Commercial Assistant Manager
Assistant Commercial Manager, Commercial Officer, Tendering Manager
12 months FTC

Our client specialises in the fabrication, erection and protective treatment of high-quality steelwork for landmark bridges, highway bridges, railway bridges, footbridges, sign gantries, monopiles, wind turbine towers and other heavy structures. They deliver infrastructure solutions throughout the world and their international commercial department is looking for Assistant Commercial Manager

Main responsibilities and duties of the position
*Review client enquiry requirements defined by the Customer Enquiry or Sales Manager request.
*Support the management of enquiries from receipt through business process to generate a high quality formal proposal, or budgetary submission. Either through the Sales Managers Commercial Managers or direct to Customer contact.
*Understand the concept of company terms & conditions of contract both International & UK, but also prepare Customer Contract terms & conditions for Commercial & Leadership reviews.
*Managing as an interface with all relevant business functions, to produce a full deal & risk review as part of the tender evaluation process.
*Manage as an interface both internally and externally for the gathering and submission of all Clarifications, Qualifications and Exceptions for a formal proposal.
*Be proficient in the use of the Configurator cloud based budgetary tool for the preparation of budgetary enquiries in a timely manner.
*Support preparing opportunity reviews for the Management Team and wider audience to obtain all necessary approvals to submit formal proposals.
*Work closely with the Sales organisation to prepare pricing structures and strategy, as well as full cost estimation models associated with formal proposals.
*Prepare all offers in accordance with standard company policy & procedures, utilising the proposal templates standardised within the business Tools.
*Ensure that all business is carried out ethically and complies with the company's Business Ethics and Conduct Policy at all times.
*Assist in the continuous development of commercial work instructions, processes and procedures as required by the Head of Commercial. Ensure these procedures are adhered to in the daily activities.
*Manage enquiry administration within the Business CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool including log projects & quotation enquiries. Set up and maintain enquiry files, dates and all pertinent data that the business requires stored.
*Liaise with the engineering and operations teams to develop the best technical and commercial solution to each enquiry based on the client specific requirements plus pertinent input defined by the Sales Managers.
*At Contract or Purchase Order award, responsible for the timely Input of commercial information into the business ERP systems and prepare the Contract Handover promptly to Procedure.
*Provide the Head of Commercial regular reporting information based upon your work in progress and daily priorities.
*Maintain all commercial and contractual files until either handed over to Operations at Contract Award or archived upon Contract Completion.
*Responsible for accurately defining and handing over the details of each new Purchase Order to the Project Operational delivery teams according to business process.
*Liaise with the Operational team regularly to support contract export and shipping requirements.
*Support the Trade Finance Manager with information pertinent to raising Letters of credits, invoicing and any other payment methods negotiated during award.
*Maintain post‐award client contact on certain projects as and when necessary.
*Report progress on all quotations to the Head of Commercial regularly.
*Contribute to factory planning and stock control process as required by the Head of Commercial.
*Assist in developing and maintaining the Sales and Commercial CRM Database to monitor and report on enquiry progress and status.
*Support maintaining historical order information and manage the administration of the order book.
*Proactively liaise with other members of the Mabey Group as required to support the business needs.
*Carry out other day to day activities from time to time including improvement projects, as requested by the Head of Commercial.

The ideal candidate would have experience in the manufacturing or construction service industry. Specifically, the ideal candidate will have:

*Excellent IT skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook and previous CRM experience) required.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, attention to detail is critical.
*Excellent time management and organisations skills are essential in a busy commercial operating environment

*Degree educated Graduate or equivalent experience considered.
*Basic knowledge developed in a Commercial Export Environment or a similar role.
*Fluent in additional language such as Spanish, French or Portuguese would be useful, both verbal and written skills.
*Previous experience in a busy sales and administrative operating environment.
*A strong Commercial acumen and the aptitude to grasp/understand the technical (engineering) aspects of our products.
*Some knowledge of export, Incoterms, Letter of Credit, payment terms would be useful.
*Ability to present to the highest levels in an organisation is desirable.
*Reasonable experience & exposure to Contractual Terms reviews would be a distinct advantage.
