About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking for a Buyer to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
As a Buyer, you will be integral to delivering innovative supply chain solutions to support future growth opportunities pursued by the business. You'll be working in a small but highly effective team, where the highest standards will be expected from both a technical and behavioural perspective. You'll work with the Supply Chain Business Growth team to deliver innovative, supply chain solutions; identify and secure value opportunities and levers to deliver competitive advantage; collaborate with key stakeholders to enhance the supply chain involvement; identify and mitigate risks throughout your projectsnsure compliance to governance, restrictions and controls as required.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll be a member of a relevant professional body, for example the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply at a Level 4 or above or equivalent business related qualification.
We would also like you to have the following:
Experience within a Supply Chain role, preferably in a Defence or Engineering environment
Excellent nalytical skills to analyse data and make decisions
Ability to present information to key stakeholders
Self-motivation with a flexible approach to workloadLastly, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to engage effectively with internal and external customers and stakeholders at all levels.
What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
